In our last week we found a common dynamic how to treat and create material together that would consider all different ways of working from all 4 of us. We got closer to what we experienced as “organizing difference”: keeping the creative spirit up and directed forwards despite differences in artistic/ aesthetic/ methodological approach and scheduling.

We started to put materials next to each other, not intentionally to present them as a scene but more as a try-out of possible combinations.

We kept questioning the real and deeper intersection of each of us individually with the topic of hospitality and started telling stories and made them interact with other materials (clamps, air mattress dance, brush face, coffee making, lights etc.) on stage.

The presence of our mentor was a helpful outside eye on practical issues of how materials could potentially be understood/ seen when not as much involved into the topic as we are.

The presentation to a public was a helpful, question rising experience, rich in feedback and dialogue. Images rose strong questions from audience members such as whether or not religion or the internet are rather hostile or hospitable or what the power relations between host and guest are – and how fast they can change.

In the debrief with the Theater Wrede+ we formulated the wish to have (had) more interaction with possibly interested people throughout the time of the residency to keep searching together and dig into questions.

THANK YOU THEATER WREDE FOR THIS WELCOMING, HOSPITABLE, ENRICHING TIME IN YOUR HOME!!!!!!!!!!
