Sophie Eisenried (she/her) is an art scholar, curator and author. She is interested in intersectional art theories and institutional critique/s, feminist movements, global protest and strike history/s and related artistic-activist practices as well as theories of spatial appropriation. She is currently writing a doctoral thesis on Queering the Post-Industrial Space. Artistic counter-publics (in) the periphery.
As a curator, she has realized numerous institutional and independent projects for example at Haus der Kunst Munich. Since 2025, she has been responsible for the programme of the Habibi Kiosk at the Münchner Kammerspiele as curator/dramaturge. In the same year she was announced a board member of Kunstraum Munich.
Addiotionally, she works as a research assistant and curator for arts at the Käte Hamburger research centre global dis:connect at LMU Munich. She has worked as a researcher at the Institute of Art History at the LMU Munich, at the Faculty of Cultural Studies at the Université de Strasbourg, at the Heidelberg Center for Transcultural Studies at the University of Heidelberg, and at the Bauhaus University Weimar.
